The Board:
The heart and soul of our sound comes from our late 70's MCI JH 618 (affectionately known as Marci). Equipped with 18 channels of John Hardy MPC-600 mic pre-amps, vari Q EQ's, and a nice, recently over-hauled set of guts, this board sounds every bit as timeless and clean as it looks.
The Media:
Designed as a true 'hybrid studio', here at Watershed Sound we offer the sound and experience of vintage, analog gear coupled with the convenience and flexibility of digital recording. Our beautiful old board is escorted into the digital world by a Lynx Aurora 16, which offers 16 channels of 192kHz A/D/A conversion between the board and our Mac, or, for that matter, straight to your laptop, via the USB 2.0 expansion card.
That said, we've long identified with the feeling of being an "analog [dude] in a digital world", and for those artists that feel kindred, we're happy to offer the option of recording to tape as well. For tracking, we have a fully serviced Teac 80-8, and for mixdowns/mastering, a gorgeous, vintage Scully 280 2-track. Please let us know at least two weeks in advance if you're interested in using these machines, and we can discuss getting the tape you reel-y need. (ha.)
Outboard Gear:
In addition to the board, we offer a variety of outboard gear for use with your sessions. All options listed here (plus additional inserts, if you'd like to bring your own gear) are wired directly into the MCI's onboard patchbay, to offer you maximum mixing conveniece.

They say a signal chain's only as strong as its weakest link, and here at the Shed, we made damn sure not to have any. Our whole studio is lovingly hand-wired together with Belden cable and Neutirik connectors of the highest quality. We also make all of our own microphone & instrument cables, just like grandma used to.
