Watershed Sound is a recording studio like no other. Hidden in the heart of Oakland's historic 5th Avenue Marina, we strive to embody the spirit of our location - laid back, timeless, and creatively adventurous. With our unique arsenal of top of the line tools and free pile furniture, we're able to provide the quality so many artists demand in a "retreat-like" environment that few can find.
THE SPACE
At our heart, we are a studio built by musicians, for musicians. Mindfully designed to be a top-of-the-line sonic environment, with the visual aesthetic of the finest gold rush-era brothel, we've strived to create a space that feels comfortable, yet forcefully inspirational. Shiny, flourescent-lit studio, we are not. And we like it that way.

Here at Watershed Sound, we live to serve. Well, actually, we live to make rad music, but, as musicians ourselves, we know that comfortable conditions make for a focused creative process, and that is exactly what we try to provide. We strive to be a whole-product studio, designed to help any level of musician transform a spark of an idea into a tangible, appreciable product. From help with arranging and orchestrating, to connecting musicians together to fill parts, we love helping make music come to life.
On top of serving as a galaxy-class recording studio, we try to help in all aspects of music-making, and offer as regular services, both video and visual art aspects. We made sure to build a studio that looked as beautiful as it sounds, and bands of all kinds have appreciated the space as a visual environment to present their music.

At the heart of our studio lies our beautiful, old, analog MCI JH 618 mixing console, Marci. With 18 channels of John Hardy-designed, Class A, discrete pre-amps, hyper-flexible onboard, vari Q equalizers, and so much else, we're incredibly lucky to offer that ever-longed for "analog warmth" in an environment that's sonically, and logistically, tailor-made for it.
